CANON CHARACTER INFORMATIONCharacter Name: Takamichi Sanzenin
Canon: I★chu!
Backstory: Character page ♔ Main Story database ♔ Side Stories ♔ Personal Interview
Since the wikia lays out the main story awkwardly, I will be writing out a quick summary about the plot of the mobile game along with Takamichi's background and involvement. I also would like to point out that the side/event stories tend to follow along with the main story. Side stories give it's "otome" related content to the game, but his relationship with his producer, Yuzuki Asahina (the main character) will be kept a neutral friendship.
---
I★chu! tells the story of the students of Etolie Vio academy, founded and run by the Ailedore entertainment company based in Japan. The school trains I-chus ("idol eggs"; idols-in-training) into full-fledged idols. Each group of students that are recruited into the school are divided into generations with first generation being seniors while the third generation are the freshmen. While becoming an idol is far from an easy road and the dark side of the business looming down on them, the students will not give up easily on achieving their dreams! The students are taught by their producer, Yuzuki Asahina, who is the female protagonist of the series.
Takamichi's past has yet to be fully explained clearly, but it is given that he lived a privileged life due to the wealth of his family. In high school, he became friends with Issei Todoroki, Futami Akabane, and Yuzuki. The three boys supported Yuzuki from the sidelines during her idolhood and later on, she ends up becoming the three's producer when they took the road on becoming idols themselves, forming the unit Lancelot. They challenge the third generation not only as rivals, but as proper seniors if the juniors wish to succeed in the business. When the third generation proved them to their seniors, Takamichi became impressed with their determination along with the others. While challenging each other, everyone pretty much became like friends as they are all on the road to become true idols.
Later on in the second season of the main story, Lancelot faces challenges of stubborn reporters trying to create scandals among the I-chus along with a threat of disbandment from the rival idol unit Alchemist when they challenge them to perform in one of their after shows and if they fail, they quit. It was a challenge as Alchemist has more of an younger fanbase compared to Lancelot's older fans, but with support from fellow classmates on how to appeal to younger fans, their after show was a success. After Alchemist gained closure on their troubled past with Yuzuki, Lancelot and Alchemist decided to try to move on, even when still having somewhat of a strained relationship.
Personality:"I'm Takamichi Sanzenin. I shall walk the path of humanity that certainly won't bring shame to the House of Sanzenin's name!"
Takamichi has a very strong sense of pride on himself. And of course, that pride is supported by being a hard worker. Takamichi is always someone who puts great effort into the things he does and with his family being successful in their own ways, he's proud of who his family is and who he is. His family's wealth does have some influence in his pride, but his family are full of hard workers and strong morals. When success comes with hard work, how could you not be proud of your family? That is why Takamichi's pride is large and he wants to keep working hard to not bring shame to his family.
Of course, he's not all confidence and glory. Takamichi is actually very shy underneath his prideful exterior. Takamichi has very few people he can trust and respect outside of his family. His expressions are very easily shown on his face so he is often teased and called weak for it. This offends Takamichi greatly as he hates being called weak, but he is a smart young man. He's not one who would get into physical fights over bullies or people who look down on him. Getting a fight would be shameful on his family, so he usually keep his personal circle on the small side of things. It's hard for others to not tease him as to them, Takamichi often gives humorous reactions due to his sensitive heart. Even his friends couldn't help but to poke fun out of Takamichi, which he gives the same flustered reactions every time. He doesn't get along well with stubborn people because of this part of him.
"No matter how much money you use, this beauty cannot be preserved."
Takamichi does bare some modesty. He knows very well that money cannot buy everything such as the beauty of nature or the feelings of people. Sure, it can influence people, but he knows that money cannot solve everything. He speaks elegantly with manners unless he is being teased or angered, which gets him to usually talk back without clearly thinking. He is also somewhat of a worrywart and quick to jump to conclusions, as one example is that during interviews, he snapped at someone in the background because he assumed that they laughed at him. When he is given the time to think before act, he usually tries to save himself from future embarrassment... Unless it ends up catching back up to him. Regardless of his downsides, he truly believes that hard work and great effort is the key to get what you want in life as that is what his family has taught him. Because of this, he is always trying to improve himself by learning new skills and trying to not show his emotions easily. Takamichi does easily get frightened due to how easy he shows his emotions, so he does try his best to improve what little courage he has to be strong in the eyes of others.
Wha- N- No need to wipe my cheek! Your face is close! H- Hey! Issei, Futami, don't laugh!!
Issei Todoroki and Futami Akabame are not only Takamichi's closest friends, but his only friends. Being together since high school, the other two seem to drag Takamichi into troublemaking despite protests. However, becoming friends with them has made Takamichi's life much more lively and the three are like partners in crime with Issei being the brawn, Futami being the moral support, and Takamichi with the brains. Takamichi also gives support to the other two when necessary, calming Issei down when he's mad or getting Futami motivated to actually do work. Issei and Futami are common teasers to Takamichi, but it's usually light-hearted out of friendship. With the younger I-chus, Takamichi slowly grows close to them in order to be a proper senior to them and even when trying to support them, they end up supporting him as well through the trials and hardships on becoming idols.
Takamichi may act tough and prideful on first impressions, but deep down, he is actually a shy, weak man who has a good sense of humility. He is a very hard worker and continues to improve himself in order to show the world that he is a strong man just like the rest of his family.
AU INFORMATIONAU Character Name: Takamichi Sanzenin
AU Backstory:Growing up in a wealthy family in Japan, Takamichi grew up with strict rules and manners. His father is a successive business man, his mother being an elite socialite, and his older sister Hibari is an aspiring fashion designer. He still attended public school where he became friends with the rowdy Issei Todoroki, the lazy Futami Akabane, and the humble Yuzuki Asahina. While connection with Yuzuki drifted off due to her path of becoming a music idol, the three boys support her from the sidelines and enjoy a simple life. Takamichi did not make too many friends due to his shyness and being easy to tease, but regardless on how the trio got a friendship going, he was happy with this simple blessing.
As time past and the group grew older, Yuzuki retired from idol status after losing her producer in a terrible car accident and took the path on becoming a producer for idols instead. Takamichi and his two friends were invited by the president of the company she worked for to become idols and while reluctant at first, the three accepted. Takamichi did not have any solid ideas for future plans besides perhaps taking over his father's business so the road to becoming idols is a nice change of pace. Issei, Futami, and Takamichi formed the unit Lancelot and performed jazz melodies, growing in popularity with younger and older adults. Hibari became an extremely successful fashion designer and started to work overseas, even finding love in another man from another wealthy family. She became engaged and everything seemed fine in life. With Hibari's success in fashion and Takamichi's growing success in music, the children of the Sanzenin seem to have a future set for them.
However, after one concert, Takamichi received a phone call from a family butler. Hibari left for work in Los Angeles and was suppose to return tonight. Not only she did not return, contact was nonexistent. She went missing.
The Sanzenin family spoke in grief and outrage towards her fiance and his family, who retaliated heavily back towards the family. Takamichi's father reassured him to focused on his growth as an idol, but Takamichi knew something else is going on. His father became more hidden within work and disconnected from the family. Private investigators are useless and the other family ignored any questions and gave threats of lawsuits and ripping the Sanezenin family to shreds. It felt like the other family were watching Takamichi and his family's every move, it was clear that something was wrong and one false move could endanger everyone.
Takamichi walked home alone one night after a few drinks at a bar when he discovered two people talking in an alley. A stranger paying one of the private investigators his father hired a large sum of money, saying something about keeping quiet and focus on creating the downfall of a successful family. Without thinking due to the furious rush through him, Takamichi confronted them in outrage and demanded answers. The men retaliated and dragged the idol into a Palace, berating him that he should stick to being a weak rich boy who does what he is told by his father. Before it was too late, an unknown individual appeared to fight the men and bring justice for their crimes. Despite feeling useless, Takamichi was determined to bring justice to his missing sister and find the truth to save his family, which leads to awakening his Persona to help the unknown hero get the men to change their hearts. The hero vanished without a word once it was all over before Takamichi could ask questions or give gratitude.
Lancelot went on a temporary hiatus by Takamichi's request without explaining everything what happened on that night to his friends and family. Takamichi buys an apartment and moves himself to Los Angeles secretly to prevent giving more danger to his family and his loved ones to discover the truth on his sister's disappearance, which leads him to the Phantom Thieves.
AU Personality Deviation: Takamichi is mostly similar in terms of his personality from canon to the alternate universe in the game. However, he is mostly on his own minus working with the Phantom Thieves in unknown territory in America. He is smart enough to avoid common trouble, but he will mostly stick to being alone until he can gain trust and open up to someone to be around in public eye. His growing idol status could have impact in public eye, but Takamichi does not have to worry much about it as he assumes that his music is still unknown overseas. Due to the usual social issues of America, Takamichi will avoid confrontation of his foreigner status unless there is no escape route.
Even with the option to return to Japan through Mementos, Takamichi will not return there due to the fear of bringing danger to his friends and family unless there is something related to his sister's disappearance back at home.
Species: Human
Class: Operator
Arcana: Justice
Persona:Initial: Galahad
One of the Knights of the Round Table from Arthurian legend, also known as the illegitimate son of Lancelot and one of the three knights who found the Holy Grail.
As a Persona, it appears as an upper torso of a masked knight sitting inside large metallic wings. It appears like a classical knight with technological details, adorned in colors of blue, black, silver, and white. It's helmet is shaped like a hawk's skull and it's wings are actually stationary, so it floats in place. The knight holds a clear shield of a strong blue aura with a metallic border. There is a seating engraved into it's torso where Takamichi sits in to serve his Operator role, protected by Galahad's shield and armor. While sitting in position, a half-eye visor forms over Takamichi's mask to assist with scanning the Metaverse. Galahad represents Takamichi's pure heart underneath his prideful shell and desire to improve his small amount of courage within him during a long journey of challenges and self-improvement.
Galahad is very much a defensive Persona with buffs such as Rakukaja and Marakukaja. It also supports that defense with healing from Dia/Media and curing status aliments with Baisudi and Patra.
Ultimate: Sōjōbō
The mythical king of the tengu who lived on Mount Kurama and is best known for teaching Ushiwakamaru (who grew to become Minamoto no Yoshitsune) swordsmanship, tactics, and magic. While it was rumored that he ate children who wandered too deep into the forest along with tengu being know to be fierce and unpredictable, Sōjōbō is wise and was impressed with the human's bravery so he agreed to teach him.
Sōjōbō bares a little resemblance to Galahad as a Persona. A pale, human-like elder whose face is obscured by white flowing hair with the exception of a long nose. It wears pieces of broken armor over a flowing emperor's robe. It sits cross-legged inside large black wings, his right hand holding a throne and his left holding a fan of feathers. Like with Galahad, Takamichi sits in the throne and is protected by a blue aura, where unlike his initial Persona, Sōjōbō gives an aura that resembles blue flames. Not only does Sōjōbō represent power, but Takamichi gaining the courage to gain power for personal strength and improvement.
Sōjōbō will have strengthen support skills from his form as Galahad along with learning defensive debuffs such as Rakunda and Marakunda. The strongest skill it is able to learn is Tetrakarn.
